National Leadership Conference Recap

Congratulations to all of Colorado FCCLA Competitive Event participants from the following chapters who attended the FCCLA National Leadership Conference, June 28 – July 2, in Atlanta, Georgia: Akron, Bollman Technical Education Center, Boulder, Briggsdale, Canon City, Centauri, Chaparral, Cheraw, Cherry Creek, Coronado, Douglas County, Eaton, Frederick, Fruita Monument, Golden, Holmes, Holyoke, Legacy, Mead, Meeker, Merino, Mountain View, Mountain Vista, Niwot, Northglenn, Northridge, Odyssey Early College and Career Options, Platte Valley, Pomona, Ponderosa, Rocky Mountain, Roosevelt, Sanford, Springfield, Trinidad, Warren Technical Center, Windsor, and Wray. These chapters brought home 86 gold, 56 silver, and 12 bronze medals making Colorado proud.

Highlights from the National Leadership Conference include:

  • Emily Gutierrez of Roosevelt High School and Gabe Martinez of Northridge High School represented Colorado as National Officer Candidates
  • Margie McCandless received the 2018 Honorary Member Award
  • Denise Sciacca of Trinidad High School received the Spirit of Advising Award
  • Kim Baldwin of Ponderosa High School and Kelly Gauck of Holmes Middle School received the Adviser Mentor Award
  • Kelsey Mauch of Rocky Mountain High School, Annie Friesema of Odyssey Early College, Arielle Bergmann of Overland High School, and Andrea Aragon of Odyssey Early College received the Master Adviser Award
  • Robert Van Dyke received the 2018 State Adviser of the Year Award
  • Colorado FCCLA received a Membership Increase Award
  • Cherry Creek High School’s Career Investigation participant, Coronado High School’s Teach and Train participant, and Merino High School’s Chapter in Review Display team were recognized for receiving perfect scores
  • Next-to perfect scores of 99 were earned by the Job Interview participant from Cheraw High School, the Chapter Service Project Display participant from Cheraw High School, the Life Event Planning team from Cherry Creek High School, the Career Investigation participant from Holmes Middle School, the Focus on Children participant from Holmes Middle School, and the Chapter in Review Portfolio team from Holyoke High School
  • Kayelani Kirschbaum and Victoria Connor, State Officer Alumni, served as interns for National FCCLA
